Quran

It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion. And sufficient is Allah as Witness. (48:28)

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? (41:53)

But Allah bears witness to that which He has revealed to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness [as well]. And sufficient is Allah as Witness. (4:166)

Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated with Allah - Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allah is, over all things, Witness. (22:17)

Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge - [that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (3:18)

What comes to you of good is from Allah, but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad(ﷺ)], to the people as a Messenger, and Sufficient is Allah as Witness. (4:79)

Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allah is witness between me and you. And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]." (6:19)

Hadith

1. It is narrated on the authority of Ubadah bin Samit (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) observed:

He who said:" There is no god but Allah, He is One and there is no associate with Him, that Muhammad is his servant and His messenger, that Christ is servant and the son of His slave-girl and he (Christ) His word which He communicated to Mary and is His Spirit, that Paradise is a fact and Hell is a fact," Allah would make him (he who affirms these truths enter Paradise through any one of its eight doors which he would like.

(Sahih Muslim 28 a)

2. Narrated `Abdur-Rahman: Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri told my father

"I see you liking sheep and the wilderness. So whenever you are with your sheep or in the wilderness and you want to pronounce Adhan for the prayer raise your voice in doing so, for whoever hears the Adhan, whether a human being, a jinn or any other creature, will be a witness for you on the Day of Resurrection." Abu Sa`id added, "I heard it (this narration) from Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)."

(Sahih al-Bukhari 609)

3. Maimun bin Siyah asked Anas bin Malik (رضی الله عنهم): "O Abu Hamzah, what makes the blood and wealth of a Muslim forbidden?" He said:

"Whoever bears witness to La ilaha il Allah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah) and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), faces our Qiblah, prays as we pray, and eats our slaughtered animals, he is a Muslim, and has the same rights and obligations as the Muslims."

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 3968)

4. It was narrated that Az-Zubair bin al-`Awwam (رضي الله عنه) said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) recite this verse when he was in ‘Arafah

'Allah bears witness that La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), and the angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He always) maintains His creation in justice. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise' (Surah Aal-Imran 3:18).

And I am one of the witnesses to that, O Lord.”

5. Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (رضي الله عنه) reported the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying : If anyone says when he hears the Mu’azzin

“And I testify that there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner and that Muhammad is His servant and Apostle: I am satisfied with Allah as lord, with Muhammad as apostle and with Islam as religion”,

he will be forgiven.

6. It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: Whom do you consider to be a martyr among you? They (the Companions) said: Messenger, of Allah, one who is slain in the way of Allah is a martyr. He said: Then (if this is the definition of a martyr) the martyrs of my Ummah will be small in number. They asked: Messenger of Allah, who are they? He said:

One who is slain in the way of Allah is a martyr; one who dies in the way of Allah, is a martyr; one who dies of plague is a martyr; one who dies of cholera is a martyr.

Ibn Miqsam said: I testify the truth of your father's statement (with regard to this tradition) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:

One who is drowned is a martyr.

7. It was narrated that Jabir (رضي الله عنه)  said: "The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to teach us the Tashahhud just as he would teach us a surah of the Quran:

"Allah compliments, prayers and pure words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) and his blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah (سبحانه و تعالى)  . I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. I ask Allah for Paradise and I seek refuge with Allah from the Fire).'

8. Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) reported that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to recite in first of the two (supererogatory) rak'ahs of the dawn:

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him." (2:136)

and in the second of the two:

But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah ?" The disciples said," We are supporters for Allah . We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]. (3:52)

9. Narrated Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: If anyone says in the morning:

"O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels, and all Thy creatures to witness that Thou art Allah than Whom there is no god, Thou being alone and without a partner, and that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy Apostle,"

Allah will forgive him any sins that he commits that day; and if he repeats them in the evening. Allah will forgive him any sins he commits that night.

10. Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) reported that Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I can say morning and evening." The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

"O Allah, Knower of the Unseen and the Visible, Creator of the heavens and the earth, everything is in Your hands. I testify that there is no god but You. I seek refuge with You from the evil of myself and the evil of shaytan and his (encouragement to) associate others (with You)."

Say it in the morning and the evening and when you go to sleep."

11. It was narrated from Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:

“The martyr has six things (in store) with Allah: He is forgiven from the first drop of his blood that is shed; he is shown his place in Paradise; he is spared the torment of the grave; he is kept safe from the Great Fright; he is adorned with a garment of faith; he is married to (72 wives) from among the wide-eyed houris; and he is permitted to intercede for seventy of his relatives.”

12. Narrated Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

"By Him in Whose Hands my life is! Were it not for some men amongst the believers who dislike to be left behind me and whom I cannot provide with means of conveyance, I would certainly never remain behind any Sariya' (army-unit) setting out in Allah's Cause. By Him in Whose Hands my life is! I would love to be martyred in Allah's Cause and then get resurrected and then get martyred, and then get resurrected again and then get martyred and then get resurrected again and then get martyred."

13. Narrated Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

"Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah's Cause)."

14. Narrated ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه): Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: “If one after performing ablution completely recites the following supplication:

‘I testify that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah, He is Alone and has no partner and Muhammad (ﷺ) is his slave and Messenger,’

(three times) all the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter through any gate he wishes”.

15. Sahl bin Hunaif (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

16. Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father (رضی الله عنهم): `Umar (رضي الله عنه) said,

"O Allah! Grant me martyrdom in Your cause, and let my death be in the city of Your Apostle (ﷺ)."

17. On the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar (رضی الله عنه): The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

"I have been ordered to fight against the people until they testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and until they establish the salah and pay the zakat. And if they do that then they will have gained protection from me for their lives and property, unless [they commit acts that are punishable] in Islam, and their reckoning will be with Allah."

‘I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Alone, without partner, One Deity, the One, As-Samad, He did not take a wife, nor a child, nor is there anyone like Him,’

Allah will write for him forty million good deeds.”

19. It has been reported on the authority of Bara' (رضی الله عنه) who stated: A man from Banu Nabit (one of the Ansar tribes) came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and said:

"I testify that there is no god except Allah and that thou art His bondman and Messenger."

Then he went forward and fought until he was killed. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:

"He has done a little but shall be given a great reward."

"Praise is due to Allah, Whom we praise and from Whom we ask help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves. I testify that there is nothing deserving of worship except Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger."

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ),

`Ali (رضي الله عنه) would say:

‘Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except You, I seek You forgiveness, and I repent to You,’

whatever occurred in that sitting would be forgiven to him.”

23. Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to attack the enemy when it was dawn. He would listen to the Adhan; so if he heard an Adhan, he stopped, otherwise made an attack. Once on hearing a man say:

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest,

the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) remarked:

He is following al-Fitra (al-Islam).

Then hearing him say:

I testify that there is no god but Allah, I testify that there is no god but Allah,

You have come out of the Fire (of Hell).

They looked at him and found that he was a goat herd.

"Greetings, good words, prayers, pure actions belong to Allah. I testify that there is no god except Allah, alone without partner, and I testify that Muhammad is the slave of Allah and His Messenger. Peace be upon you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun . Peace be upon you."

25. ‘Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) reported the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying; When the Muazzin says:
“Allah is the most great, Allah is the most great”,

and one of you says in response:
“Allah is most great”, Allah is most great;"

then he says:
“I testify tht there is no god but Allah,”

and you say in response:
“I testify that there is no god but Allah,”

then he says:
“I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,”

and you make the response:
“I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”,

then he says:
“Come to prayer,”

and you make the response:
“There is no might and no power except in Allah:

then he says:
“Come to salvation,”

and you make the response:
“There is no might and no power except in Allah:

 then he says:
“Allah is the most great, Allah is the most great,”

and you make the response:
“Allah is the most great, Allah is the most great,

then he says:
“There is no god but Allah”,

and you make the response:
“There is no god but Allah”,

if you say this from your  heart, you will enter Paradise.

26. Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam  (رضي الله عنه): I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying after his prayer:

"O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Thou art the Lord alone Who hast no partner; O Allah, Our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy apostle ; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that all the servants are brethren; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything make me sincere to Thee, and my family too at every moment, in this world and in the world hereafter, O Possessor of glory and honour, listen to me and answer. Allah is incomparably great. O Allah, Light of the heavens and of the earth.Lord of the heavens and of the earth, Allah is incomparably great. Allah is sufficient for me; and the excellent guardian is He; Allah is incomparably Great."
