5. Hadith

5.1 It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) that: When the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prostrated he would say:

"O Allah, to You I have prostrated and to You I have submitted, and in You I have believed. My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and shaped it and shaped it well, and brought forth its hearing and sight. Blessed be Allah the best of Creators."

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 1126)

5.2 Ummul Mumineen 'Aisha (رضي الله عنها) narrated that when the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) looked at mirror, he supplicated

O Allah! just as You have made my external features beautiful, make my character beautiful as well and prevent my face from fire (anger).

(Al-Hisnul Hasin 316, Ibn Hibban 970)

5.3 Abu Dharr and Mu'adh bin Jabal (رضی الله عنهم) reported that: Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,

"Fear Allah wherever you are, do good deeds after doing bad ones, the former will wipe out the latter, and behave decently towards people".

(Riyad as-Salihin Book 1, Hadith 61)

5.4 Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and I went to see a woman. She had date-stones or pebbles in front of her, and she was counting and reciting Tasbih.

Allah is free from imperfection.

He said, "Shall I not inform you of what is easier or better than this for you?" You should say:

Subhan-Allah, equal to the number of what He created in the heaven; and Subhan-Allah, equal to the number of His creatures in the earth; and Subhan-Allah, equal to the number in between them; and Subhan-Allah equal to the number of those He will create.'

Then say: 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is Greatest) in the same way.
Then say: 'Al-hamdu lillah' (praise be to Allah) in the same way.
Then say: 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no true god except Allah) in the same way.
Then say: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (there is no change of a condition nor power except by Allah) in the same manner."

“O Allah, to You I have prostrated, and in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. You are my Lord; my face has prostrated to the One Who gave it hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah the best of Creators.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah Vol. 1, Book 5, Hadith 1054)

5.6 Hazrat Hasan Al-Basri (رحمه الله‎) narrated that Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (رضي الله عنه) said, "Shall I not tell you a Hadith which I have heard often from the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and many times from Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar (رضی الله عنهم) as well?" I said, "Of course, tell it". He said, "Whoever recites in the morning and evening these words,

'O Allah You created me and You guide me and You feed me and You quench me and You will cause me to die and You will revive me.'

(seven times) and then asks Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) for anything, Allah will surely grant it to him."

(Majma Al-Zawaid 10/118)

5.7 Narrated Buraydah ibn Al-Hasib (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening:

"O Allah! Thou art my Lord; there is no god but Thee, Thou hast created me, and I am Thy servant and hold to Thy covenant and promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I have done: I acknowledge Thy favour to me, and I acknowledge my sin; pardon me, for none but Thee pardons sins",

and dies during the daytime or during the night he will go to Paradise."

(Sunan Abi Dawud 5070)

5.8 Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that he visited the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and he said, "O Jabir, is it dearer to you to have eleven goats in your home or the words of praise that Jibreel (عليه السلام) taught me from above that have the goodness of this world and the next?" I said, "By Allah, I am needy but these words are more beloved to me." He said, "Say

O Allah! You are the Magnificent Creator of All, O Allah! You are Hearing and Knowing, O Allah! You are the most Forgiving, the most Merciful. O Allah! You are the Lord of the Greatest Throne.

O Allah! You are the most Munificent and the most Generous. Forgive me, and have mercy on me, and comfort me, and feed me, and hide my faults, and help me, and raise me (in status), and guide me, and do not send me astray, and make me enter the Heaven with Your Mercy, O the most Merciful."
