5. Hadith

5.1 It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) said: "The Talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was:

"Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty, You have no partner."

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 2749)

5.2 Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar (رضي الله عنه): Whenever Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) returned from a Ghazwa, Hajj or `Umra, he used to say Takbir thrice at every elevation of the ground and then would say,

"None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; He is One and has no partner. All the kingdoms is for Him, and all the praises are for Him, and He is Omnipotent. We are returning with repentance, worshipping, prostrating, and praising our Lord. He has kept up His promise and made His slave victorious, and He Alone defeated all the clans of (nonbelievers)."

(Sahih al-Bukhari 1797)

5.3 It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) that : the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "Whoever says one hundred times each day:

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. His is the dominion, all praise is to Him, and He is able to do all things,

it will be equivalent to him freeing ten slaves, and one hundred merits will be recorded for him, and one hundred bad deeds will be erased from (his record), and it will be a protection for him against Satan all day until night comes. No one can do anything better then him except one who says more.'"

(Sunan Ibn Majah 3798)

5.4 Narrated Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه): Abu Dharr (رضي الله عنه) said to the Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), 'The wealthy people have all the rewards; they pray as we pray; they fast as we fast; and they have surplus wealth which they give in charity; but we have no wealth which we may give in charity.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Abu Dharr, should I not teach you phrases by which you acquire the rank of those who excel you? No one can acquire your rank except one who acts like you. He said: Why not, Messenger of Allah?' He said:

Exalt Allah [say: Allahu Akbar (Allah is Most Great)] after each prayer thirty-three times; and praise Him [say: Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah)] thirty-three times; and glorify Him [say: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, and end it by saying, "(La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-Mulku wa lahul-Hamdu, wa huwaala kulli shayin Qadir) There is no god but Allah alone, there is no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, to Him praise is due and He has power over everything". His sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.'

(Sunan Abi Dawud 1504)

5.5 It was narrated from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) that: when the Messenger of Allah  (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood on top of As-Safa, he recited the Takbir three times and said:

"There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things."

He did three times, and supplicated, and did the same a top Al-Marwah.

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 2972Sunan an-Nasa'i 2985)

5.6 Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)  as saying:

The akhna' ismin (vilest name) on the Day of Resurrection in Allah's sight will be that of a man called 'Malik al-Amlak' (King of Kings). The narration transmitted on the authority of Shaiba (contains these words):

There is no king but Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.

Sufyan said: Similarly, the word 'Shahinshah' (is also the vilest appellation).

(Sunan Abi Dawud 4961Sahih Muslim 2143 a)

5.7 It was narrated that Abu Az-Zubair said: "Abdullah bin Az-Zubair (رضی الله عنهم) used to recite the Tahlil following every prayer, saying:

'There is none worthy of worship except Allah (جل جلاله) alone, with no partner or associate. His is the Dominion, to Him be all praise, and He is able to do all things; there is no power and no strength except with Allah (جل جلاله) the Almighty. There is none worthy of worship except Allah (جل جلاله), and we worship none but Him, the source of blessing and kindness and the One Who is deserving of all good praise. There is none worthy of worship except Allah (جل جلاله), and we are sincere in faith and devotion to Him even though the disbelievers detest it.'

Then Ibn Az-Zubair said: 'The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to recite the Tahlil in this manner following every prayer.'"

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 1340)

5.8 Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) "Whoever gets up at night and says:

'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. He is the Only One and has no partners . For Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are due for Him. He is Omnipotent. All the praises are for Allah. All the glories are for Allah. And none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, And Allah is Great And there is neither Might nor Power Except with Allah.'

And then says:

'O Allah! Forgive me'.

Or invokes (Allah), he will be responded to and if he performs ablution (and prays), his prayer will be accepted."

(Sahih al-Bukhari 1154)

5.9 Warrad, the scribe of Mughira b. Shu'ba, reported: Mu'awiya (رضی الله عنهم) wrote to Mughira: Write to me anything which you heard from the Messenger of Allah  (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). So he (Mughira) wrote to him (Mu'awiya): I heard the Messenger of Allah uttering (these words) at the completion of prayer:

"There is no god but Allah. He is alone and there is no partner with Him. Sovereignty belongs to Him and to Him is praise due and He is Potent over everything. O Allah! no one can withhold what Thou givest, or give what Thou withholdest, and riches cannot avail a wealthy person with Thee."

(Sahih Muslim 593 e)

5.10 It was narrated from Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar, from his father, that his grandfather (رضی الله عنهم) told that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "Whoever says, when he enters the marketplace:

'None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, with no partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him is the praise, He gives life and gives death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die; in His Hand is all goodness and He is Able to do all things,'

Allah will record for him one million good deeds, and will erase from him one million bad deeds, and will build for him a house in Paradise. "

(Sunan Ibn Majah Vol. 3, Book 12, Hadith 2235)

5.11 Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: “Whoever says ten times:

‘None has the right to be worshipped by Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the praise, [He gives life and causes death,] and He has power over all things’,

it is for him equal to freeing four slaves among the offspring of Isma`il.”

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3553)

5.12 It was narrated from Abu Hurairah and Abu Saeed (رضی الله عنهم) bore witness that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "If a person says:

'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Allah is the Most Great,'

Allah says:

'My slave has spoken the truth; there is none worthy of worship except I, and I am the Most Great.'

If a person says:

'There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone',

Allah says:

'My slave has spoken the truth; there is none worthy of worship except I, alone.'

If he says,

'There is none worthy of worship except Allah with no partner or associate,'

Allah says:

'My slave has spoken the truth; there is none worthy of worship except I, with no partner or associate.'

 If he says:

'There is none worthy of worship except Allah, all dominion is His and all praise is to Him,'

Allah says:

'My slave has spoken the truth; there is none of worthy of worship except I, all dominion Mine and all praise is due to Me.'

 If he says:

'There is none worthy of worship and there is no power and no strength except with Allah,'

Allah says:

'My slave has spoken then truth; there is none worthy of worship except I, and thre is no power and no strength except with Me.'

One of the narrators Abu Ishaq said: "Then Agharr (another narrator) said something that I did not understand. I said to Abu Jafar: 'What did he say?' He said: 'Whoever is blessed with (the ability to say) them (these words) at the time of death, the Fire will not touch him.'"

(Sunan Ibn Majah 3794)

5.13 Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) narrated that : when the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would stand for the obligatory prayer, he would raise his hands to the level of his shoulder, and he would do this [also] when he finished his recitation and intended to bow, and he would do it when he raised his head from Ruku`, and he would not raise his hands in any of his prayers while he was seated. When he would rise from the two prostrations, he would likewise raise his hands, and say the Takbir, and when he opened his Salat after the Takbir, he would say:

"I have directed my face towards the One who has created the heavens and the earth, as a Hanif, and I am not of the idolaters. Indeed, my Salat, my sacrifice, my living, my dying, is for Allah, the Lord of all that exists, without partner, and with this have I been ordered and I am of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the King, there is none worthy of worship except You. Glorified are You, You are My Lord, and I am Your slave, I have wronged myself and I admit to my sin, so forgive me all my sins, verily, there is none who forgives sins but You, and guide me to the best of manners, none guides to the best of them except You, and turn away from me the evil of them, none turns away from me the evil of them except You, I am here in Your obedience and aiding Your cause, and I am reliant upon You and ever-turning towards You, [and] there is no refuge from You nor hiding place from You except (going) to You, I seek Your forgiveness, and I repent to You."

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3423, Abridged)

5.14 It was narrated from Ali (رضي الله عنه) that: When the Messenger of Allah  (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) started to pray, he would say Takbir, then say:

"Verily, I have turned my face toward Him who created the Heavens and the Earth hanifa (worhsipping none but Allah Alone), and I am not of the idolaters. Verily, my salah, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the all that exists. He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am one of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the Sovereign and there is none worthy of worship but You. I am Your slave, I have wronged myself and I acknowledge my sin. Forgive me all my sins for no one forgives sins but You. Guide me to the best of manners for none can guide to the best of them but You. Protect me from bad manners for none can protect against them but You. I am at Your service, all goodness is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You. I rely on You and turn to You, blessed and exalted are You, I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You."

(Sunan an-Nasa'i 897)

5.15 It is narrated that Jibril (عليه الصلاة والسلام) said to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم),

“If a person from your Ummah says,

'There is no god but Almighty Allah, the King, the Clear Truth',

100 times a day, it will be a means of salvation from poverty for him, will be his friend when he is alone in the grave, will be a means of acquiring wealth, and will knock on the door of Paradise.”
